ID Released For 26-Year-Old Shot, Killed Leaving Waterbury Courthouse

Police have identified a Connecticut man who was shot and killed following a court proceeding and was leaving the courthouse.

The 26-year-old was killed in New Haven County around 11:45 a.m. on. Thursday, March 21 outside of the Superior Court House in Waterbury at 400 Grand St. 

According to Lt. Ryan Bessette of the Waterbury Police, the victim, Jarron Chapman, of Waterbury, died from his injuries at the hospital.

Bessette said a preliminary investigation confirmed that Chapman had attended court proceedings earlier in the day and it is believed that this shooting incident occurred as he was leaving the courthouse.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.
